Essential Oil Recipe of the Week - Anti-Anxiety Blend
This week's essential oil recipe is a wonderful anti-anxiety blend, made with six different oils, including Ylang-Ylang, Frankincense, and Vetiver. Together, these oils make a powerful blend that always helps me when I feel anxiety or panic creeping up.
For this blend, you'll need quite a few different oils and some might not be your daily go-to oils. Don't worry if you don't have all of them: they all have anxiety-reducing or soothing/relaxing properties, so the blend is still great, even if you're missing one or two of them.
Lavender is one of those oils that I always carry with me. It's the ultimate relaxing oil, it smells great (I use it instead of perfume) and I use it on my skin, blended with coconut oil, when my skin is itchy or a little sunburned. You can also put a few in a warm bath or on your pillow, for example, for a great night sleep.
I think Frankincense is my all-time favorite oil. I always take it with me, wherever I go, and I use it on a daily basis. It's the oil that helped me greatly with anxiety and it's still my favorite soothing oil. I totally agree with its nickname, "the king of the oils". Not just because it's so good for our mood, for creating peace and calm and for that amazing scent it has, but also because it's great for our skin.
To me, Ylang-Ylang is such a beautiful, luxurious oil. It smells amazing (better than perfume!). In addition, it's great for healthy hair and skin. It also makes a great stress-reliever if you use it in a diffuser (or sniff straight from the bottle!) and its floral scent combines so well with the citrus oils.
Another all-time favorite of mine: Cedarwood. I first started using this essential oil when I struggled with hair loss, but I also immediately fell in love with the beautiful, woody scent. It makes a great oil for the diffuser or a massage oil blend, especially if you're looking for something that soothes and relaxes. It's a natural skin clarifier and can even work as an insect repellent.
This oil is both uplifting and calming, making it a great anti-anxiety oil. It has wonderful purifying properties (making it great for use on skin), and lots of people love diffusing this oil because of its citrus aroma.
Vetiver is for you if you love exotic smelling oils. Vetiver also has beautiful, calming properties and I love using it in a massage oil, I put it in my diffuser together with Lavender or doTERRA's Balance blend. It's quite a strong oil, so one drop is usually plenty.
Anti-Anxiety Essential Oil Blend Recipe
Feel free to play around with the number of drops of each oil. This is the way I like the blend, but, as always, follow your own gut (and nose). I like using a small roller ball bottle for this, so I can easily roll it onto my wrists or behind my ears, but you can use any type of container (preferably glass).
5 drops Lavender
5 drops Frankincense
3 drops Ylang-Ylang
5 drops Cedarwood
3 drops Bergamot
2 drops Vetiver
2 tbsp fractionated coconut oil
Combine the different essential oils in your roller ball bottle or container, fill up with fractionated coconut oil and shake gently.
