I'm a mother - Baby Sven is here

And suddenly, everything is different. He is here, our beautiful baby boy. Our lovely little Sven. I'm a mother. My husband is a father. Sven is our son. We are a family.

Let's be honest and real here. The natural birth that I had hoped for, didn't happen. After three days (!) of labor and an emergency c-section, our son came into the world. I didn't get to touch or see him, as he wasn't breathing. I felt that he wasn't inside me anymore, but I didn't know where he was and if he was alive at all.

But after what felt like forever, my husband was allowed to go see him. Sven was still fighting for his life, but he made it. He started breathing on his own and my husband could finally bring him to me. Finally, there was relieve. He was alive!

As soon as I started talking to him, he opened his eyes. I will never forget this moment. This is the most precious thing that has ever happened to me.

I will soon write more about my experience giving birth, getting to know my son and recovering from what turned out to be a traumatic experience. For now, I rest, cuddle and feed.

I'm a mom.
